Coming into Her Own
Even though she won the 100 backstroke at last summer's U.S. Open,
Rachel Bootsma is still coming to terms with who she is as a
competitive, world-class swimmer. When you factor in that she's
really only been swimming competitively since she was eight and
didn't hit National times until she was 14, the 16-year-old from
